I decided to write an article on SEO. A term professionally known as Search Engine Optimization. I’ve come across numerous job postings from clients that say they need a SEO website. I’m not quite sure they know what it means. It’s more like they are going off what someone else said they should have. Not saying your website shouldn’t be SEO compatible but there isn’t a SEO-template to create a design from.
SEO defined
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site or a web page (such as a blog) from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) which may deal with paid inclusion. The theory is that the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.
My Take on SEO
Every website I design has SEO in mind. The only type of site that would need extra SEO work would be Flash. Just simple due to the fact that Flash doesn’t necessarily have a code that can be read by a search engine because it usually is one file that is compressed where you can’t see the native coding. Moving on.
A good designer will automatically incorporate your businesses’ keywords and description into all pages. If done right, search engines should pickup these keywords and have no problem finding your site. Now, the part that is important is you. It is not the designers job to come up with the words your customers will use to find you. If you provide a good description of your company and the keywords you imagine someone will use to “google” you, the designer shouldn’t have a problem incorporating what you need.
Simple.

This is good. Your articles are good also. I hope your customers appreciate you and the education you are offering.
